Gar's Lair

Let me introduce myself… My name is Gar D’tor. 

I can typically be found running around a region known as Eorzea on a world we call Faerie. I spend most of my free time in the Shroud. However, my adventures take me all through Eorzea and beyond.

I’m a Miqo’te. 

I was raised by a couple named Michel and Ash. They found me when I was very young and knew little of Miqo’te culture. Thus my unusual name.  They raised me to the best of their ability in a remote portion of the Shroud. They pretty much kept to themselves except when they would head in on market days to trade some of their crafts for goods. When they returned, there were always a few books to be found in with the rest of the supplies. 

Even though they tended to be solitary, they loved to read and ensured that my siblings and I had plenty to read on a wide variety of subjects. As a result, we developed a love for them. 

As I grew older, they encouraged me to figure out what I would do with my life. As I approached my age of majority, I decided I wanted to explore the world and better understand what was out there… I wanted to see just how truthful the books are. 

After a number of moons of planning, I headed off to Gridania to visit the big city. That is when it all started. 

In this journal, I’ll talk about my adventures. For those who are following a similar path, I’ll try to warn you if something in an entry might spoil some of the “surprises” that lay in store for you. Read them as you see fit. 

So far, it has been an amazing journey, and I have seen and done things you probably won’t believe. I’ve been driven to do some less-than-sane things by an annoying Presence in the back of my mind. But more about that later. 

Oh, one more thing… My brother, Rauwrer, has decided to follow a similar path. While I’ve been at this for quite a while, he is just starting out. From our discussions, his journey is similar in many ways, but he is going about it completely differently. I’m encouraging him to post some of his thoughts here too. I’ll try to get him to introduce himself. 

Since Rauwrer is just starting out on his journey, he might provide a fresher view.  That said, we do look at things in different ways. 

I hope you find the telling of my escapades enjoyable.  Along the way, I’m likely to share some things that might help other adventurers understand aspects of the world in which we live.
