Gar’s Lair Map Run Rules

Introduction

Gar’s Lair hosts Treasure Hunts on a regular basis.

If you are new to maps, you might want to start with Gar’s FFXIV Treasure Hunt Guide.

General Rules

  1. Have fun!
    • Party map runs are as much about the social aspect as they are the goal of making gil.
  2. Free-For-All (FFA) Rules
    • Roll as you see fit. It is perfectly fine to roll “Need” on everything.
    • If there is an item, such as a minion, or orchestration roll that you already have, consider rolling “pass” or “greed.” This is a suggestion and not a hard rule.
    • By these FFA rules, you stand an equal chance of getting a drop as everyone else.
  3. You do not need to bring your own maps. The map owner will lead the party through open portals and dungeons.
  4. Respect others.
    • This is an LGBTQIA+ supportive group.
    • There are no requirements to be a member of this group other than to respect other members. Do not assume all members are of the LGBTQIA+ community.
    • Young people may be present. No attempt has been made to verify the ages of the players. Please adjust your interactions accordingly.
    • Be mindful of your humor. Everyone should feel comfortable.
  5. Do not discuss religion or politics.
    • These tend to be emotional subjects for many. In keeping with the first and last rules, it is better just to avoid them.
  6. Typically, we go through a set of maps before deciphering the next set.
    • This is primarily done to ensure deciphered maps are run and that everyone gets a balanced chance to run the maps they have brought. Yes, this may involve some extra teleportation charges, but those are more than mitigated by the winnings. (Unless it is the worst maps night ever.)
  7. If it is your first run, let it be known. We’ll help by taking you through it. It’s always fun to help feed a maps addiction. 😉😄
  8. Have fun! If you’re not having fun, you’re not doing it right.

Notes

The leader of the run, typically me, reserves the right to kick anyone for violation of the rules.

While this is unlikely, egregious violations may result in being kicked immediately. In most cases, you will receive a warning via private tell, party chat, or voice chat.

Occasionally, I may be unable to lead a Gar’s Lair run. At those times, I may ask someone else to lead the run.

Additionally, there may be variations of rule enforcement due to who is leading, or who is present in the run. I ask that everyone obey the spirit of the rules.

Voice Chat

We typically use Gar’s Lair Discord Voice Chat.

It is perfectly fine to join and not say anything. Join in the conversation when you are comfortable.

If you are unable or reluctant to speak, responses can be posted via Discord’s voice chat “Open Chat” feature or in the in game party chat.

You do not need to join but it does make it a bit easier to lead the party.

Gar’s Lair vs. Free Company Runs

At times, I am asked to lead map runs for a free company or another group. The rules for those runs may be different than the rules posted here.

Have fun & take care,
Gar
